At the International Congress of Romance Linguistics and Philology, Matteo Cesena, Marta Milazzo, and Andrea Macciò presented a paper which offers some case studies in medieval lexicography drawn from the MERMAID project. It focuses on bilingual and multilingual glossaries within didactic Romance miscellanies, exploring their composition, dissemination, and role in medieval learning. They examine how these glossaries derive from Latin sources or result from original compilations, reflecting strategies for language acquisition and knowledge organization, and also investigate the relationship between vernacular glosses and Latin texts, aiming to identify their mechanisms of origin and transmission.
