Worldly and Ascetic Strategies in Didactic Miscellanies

On the occasion of the conference Textos breves didácticos en códices misceláneos medievales organized by the University of Salamanca, Luca Sacchi presented a paper focused on the circulation of two very fortunate letters, attributed now to Bernard of Clairvaux now to various namesakes of his, both dating from the 12th century, the Cartula de contemptu mundi in verse and the Epistola de cura et modo rei familiaris, giving an account of the variety of translation and compilation contexts, including the case in which the two works are found side by side, despite their apparent antitheticality.
